49ers heavy betting favorites to land Antonio Brown

Now that wide receiver Antonio Brown is officially ready to move on from the Pittsburgh Steelers; the bidding war has seemingly been kicked up a notch. Brown's attorney left the courtroom with no comment on the matter. The Steelers could decide they aren't going to move him.

Not long after, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Brown requested a trade and that a source believes Brown "is exhausted of playing the scapegoat for the Steelers' problems and wants to show he can thrive in another offense".

Brown took to social media to bid farewell to the Steelers fans, saying: "Thank you SteelerNation for a big 9 years.time to move on and forward". Brown was charged in November for driving his black sports auto over 100 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. He paid a $426.77 fine. Brown did not attend Tuesday's hearing.

Despite the off-field strife, Brown caught 104 passes for 1,297 yards and a club-record 15 touchdowns in 2018.

Still, Brown's behavior became increasingly erratic last fall. Brown signed the contract and should the front office choose, will remain bound to this team.

Tomlin opted to make Brown inactive and Brown did not show up to clean out his locker or conduct an exit interview with the coaching staff.

At the moment, the Philadelphia Eagles are fortunate enough to have one of the league's top receivers in Alshon Jeffery leading the way in the passing game, but this doesn't mean the team shouldn't make an attempt to land another star wideout in Antonio Brown.

As such, the attention now turns to where Brown possibly could end up. That still might be the case, whether Brown wants to come back or not. The Steelers would have to eat $21 million in dead money to trade Brown, but if they are open to it, that dead money won't impact his new team. Le'Veon Bell's holdout last season was one thing - he was unhappy with having the franchise tag used on him - but Brown's situation is completely different. The $14.4 million Bell forfeited will roll over into 2019, giving Pittsburgh some flexibility to absorb a loss if Brown plays elsewhere.

The New England Patriots have made their fair share of noteworthy deals in the Bill Belichick era, but it looks like the Super Bowl LIII champs will be out of the running for the crowned jewel of the upcoming trade market.

The NFL's best receiver is now on the trade block.
