Avengers: Endgame - Super Bowl Spot Drops New Footage

The spot drives home the film's main tagline - "higher, further, faster" - which is repeated with increasing intensity throughout. The footage opens on Carol and her best friend and fellow pilot Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) walking along a tarmac at a U.S. Air Force base.

The Oscar victor, 29, lights up the sky in the latest look at the highly-anticipated Marvel release that gives fans a glimpse at her character, Carol Danvers', iconic blue and red suit. And there's nothing more nineties than homoerotic jet fighting.

According to early tracking estimates from Box Office Pro, the Brie Larson-headlined movie - Marvel's first female-led offering - is looking at a domestic opening weekend of $160 million. The movie, which is set to arrive at the top of March, was also paired with a teaser during the Super Bowl.

Mississipi Grind helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing from a script written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve.

Oscar-winner Brie Larson plays the title character, who is rumoured to be taking over from the likes of Iron Man and Captain America in a leadership role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's post Endgame plans. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

While the new teaser doesn't share too many hints about the plot of the forthcoming release, we're getting a clearer picture that Captain Marvel is the strongest superhero yet.
