New Orleans will also receive four second-round picks in the swap.

The Pistons traded Johnson to the Bucks on Wednesday for Thon Maker.

While the Sixers are trying to build a contending team, the Milwaukee Bucks chose to give Thon Maker the chance to prove himself elsewhere, agreeing to a trade with the Detroit Pistons which will see former first-round pick Stanley Johnson head to the Bucks.

Piston swingman Stanley Johnson is reportedly headed to the Bucks in a swap of two former lottery picks.

Maker, the No. 10 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, is averaging 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 11.7 minutes per game in his third season.

This season, Mirotic has played in just 32 of New Orleans' 55 games because of injuries, but has averaged 16.7 points and 8.3 rebounds. He is in the final year of a contract that pays him $5.4 million this season and will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Johnson is joining the league's best defensive team, and in the Bucks' fast-paced offence he may be able to impact the game with his slashing ability.

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo told ESPN's Cassidy Hubbarth that he talked to Maker after news of the trade surfaced.

Johnson played one season of basketball for Arizona before being taken eighth overall by the Pistons in the 2015 draft. The Milwaukee Bucks chose to go all-in this season and make a play for Mirotic, who is averaging a career-high 16.7 points per game in the Big Easy this season.

Milwaukee will host the Washington Wizards tonight, February 6, while the Pistons prepare for the second game of a home & home against the Knicks in Detroit on Friday night.
