Florida DUI suspect dances way through sobriety test

Florida DUI suspect dances way through sobriety test

Police arrested a man for DUI in Holiday, Florida on February 6 after they say he danced during his field sobriety test and told police he believed he was driving in a different city.

Law enforcement officials from Holiday, Florida released video of DUI suspect Christopher Ryan Larson, 33, while warning that though it may seem amusing, driving under the influence comes with serious, and potentially deadly consequences.

When deputies were able to rouse him from his sleep, he left the vehicle but did not put it in park.

Authorities say a breath sample revealed that he had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

He was later arrested on a charged of DUI and released from jail on his own recognizance, records show.

Larson told FOX 13 he would not call what he did dancing and declined to comment further. He started walking, but eventually starting bouncing as he walked along the line, hopped, and spun around, appearing to dance. Police say they spotted a truck parked with its brake lights on in front of a closed business.

As Larson got out of the vehicle, according to deputies, it rolled forward as it was still in drive.

The sheriff's office says he admitted to drinking for several hours and allegedly told deputies he thought he was in Clearwater, but had actually been sleeping in Holiday, about 32 kilometres away from Clearwater.

Once Larson got out, video shows him losing his balance and breaking into a dance move during the "walk and turn" test.
