LG Will Not Launch Any Foldable Smartphone, Says It’s Too Early

The images of the LG V50 ThinQ were leaked on Twitter by serial leakster Evan Blass.

The LG V50 ThinQ will be a 5G-ready phone and run on the Sprint network in US.

The only new bit of the puzzle here is that LG apparently intends to pour its initial 5G efforts into the existing "V" device branch, as opposed to developing a whole new product, like some of its 5G competitors.

We're still a few weeks away from Mobile World Congress, but the phone announcements are already starting.

5G phones will be available first in South Korea and the United States, Kwon said, adding that the price of 5G phones would stand at more than $1,000 in the American market.

LG has used vapor chamber technology to better disperse heat from the 5G phone and given it 4,000 mAh batteries for longer operating times. Considering this circumstance, it is too soon for LG to roll out a foldable smartphone.

So while all of this sounds a little gimmicky for a 2019 smartphone, the G8 ThinQ will be demoed at the MWC event in Barcelona this month.

The front also has dual cameras, which will probably be similar if not identical to the V40 ThinQ's 8-megapixel standard selfie camera and 5-megapixel ultra-wide selfie camera.

The V50 ThinQ, which comes with an attachable dual-display screen, will be unveiled at a press sneak-peek on february 24, a day before the week-long expo begins. The LG G8 ThinQ will have a 3D sensor on the front camera as well, which has been confirmed by the company. The LG V50 ThinQ will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with at least 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

We know the LG G8 ThinQ will feature a screen that doubles as a speaker, and there's talk of touch-free gesture controls as well, on top of the usual spec improvements. Kwon made all of these confirmations at a press conference held at the LG Science Park in Seoul last week.
