Maurizio Sarri Won't Walk Away From Chelsea, Former Blues Coach Says

Maurizio Sarri Won't Walk Away From Chelsea, Former Blues Coach Says

Chelsea have a temporary reprieve from the Premier League in that period, due to the quirk of the League Cup final against City falling on a weekend of league fixtures.

The Daily Telegraph say Sarri's fate is set to be decided in the next fortnight and that he is struggling to stop the players from giving up on him.

For Sarri, it was the heaviest defeat of his coaching career and raised questions over his future.

"My job is here", Lampard told a Derby press conference on Monday, quoted by the Evening Standard.

Sarri's lack of a pre-season is cited as one of the reasons behind the ongoing support from Marina Granovskaia, who played a key part in bringing the 60-year-old to Chelsea in the summer.

Cesar Azpilicueta has captained the side in Cahill's absence but it is said that the Spaniard does not assume control of the team in the same manner as previous senior figures at the club such as John Terry, Frank Lampard or Didier Drogba.

Chelsea's players are said to attribute their fragility to a lack of leaders in the squad and believe some senior members of the team are keen to blame others for their own mistakes.

"My job is here and I'm working very hard".

"All my thoughts are on Ipswich Town away on Wednesday - I hope to see Chelsea put some form together and turn their results around". The Italian watched the bulk of the match while the players beaten by City...

They are also through to the FA Cup fifth round, where they face Brighton on Saturday.
