The Walking Dead favourite Danai Gurira looks set for 'shocking' exit

Just months after the show saw the departures of lead Andrew Lincoln and co-star Lauren Cohan, multiple reports Friday claimed Danai Gurira would be exiting the show following its 10th season. Rather, Gurira will return for the tenth season in a limited capacity.

Danai Gurira, who plays the popular sword-wielding character Michonne, has signed on for a handful of episodes for The Walking Dead Season 10, which will be her last.

The exodus continues: Danai Gurira is leaving The Walking Dead.

Danai's departure was rumoured after she was engaged in "prolonged negotiations" with AMC.

"The Walking Dead" is reportedly preparing to say goodbye to another of its main zombie fighters. Lincoln exited the series in the first half of season 9.

She'll then likely appear in the three planned films with Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes, who left the show -- but wasn't killed off - back in November. We love Danai; we love that character.

Danai's star has been on the rise since starring in Black Panther previous year, with subsequent appearances in Avengers: Infinity and Avengers: Endgame. Right now, she's got a lot of opportunities and she needs to weigh what she feels is best for her.

AMC and representatives for Gurira declined comment. We're thrilled for what's in store for her.

I don't know how surprising this news is, really.

What's more, she's set to return as Wakanda general Okoye in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame and is now in the process of adapting the novel Americanah - by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - into a TV miniseries.
