A good amount of TRD branding is also present, like the stitching on the front seat headrests.

As you'd expect, given that the Sequoia shares its bones with the Tundra, its TRD Pro treatment is similar to that full-size pickup's.

Toyota has whipped the covers off a new RAV4 TRD Off-Road model at the Chicago Auto Show in the United States, giving its fresh-faced, fifth-generation SUV an updated suspension set-up, new wheels and bespoke tyres "engineered specifically for trail driving". These include a new infotainment interface that features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well Toyota's Safety Sense P system becoming standard on all models. LED headlights come standard on the luxury-oriented Limited, while the lamps are optional on the TRD Sport trim.

Like all the other TRD Pro models, the new Sequoia TRD Pro gets legendary Fox Shocks. The suspension has been overhauled to handle bumps and crashes on rocky roads with re-valved twin-tube shocks, "off-road tuned" red coil springs, new internal rebound springs and revised bump stops for better body control "on large bumps and dips". The rear employs 2-inch-diameter Fox piggyback monotube shocks, which rock 47mm pistons (15mm larger than non-TRD) and stronger shock rods that are 3.2mm larger in diameter.

All of that specialized road handling is tied to plenty of power. The base engine only comes with a six-speed automatic.

The standard Multi-Mode 4WD system uses a lockable TORSEN limited-slip center differential to apportion torque to the front and rear wheels, and a two-speed transfer case provides a low range ratio for tackling steep off-road trails. Several specially decked-out versions of Toyota models are on display, including the Tacoma TRD and the Sequoia TRD. The RAV4 Off-Road will offer all of the same standard driver-assistance features that are on lesser models when it goes on sale, which include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beams, and traffic-sign recognition.
