Two Southampton fans arrested after making aeroplane gestures to Cardiff City supporters

But two Southampton supporters were spotted making aeroplane gestures in the crowd.

Gary Lineker is reported to have donated £1,000 ($1,300) to the family of pilot David Ibbotson, who has yet to be located following the plane crash that killed Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala.

The club further maintained they will not condone such indecent gestures towards Cardiff supporters.

Authorities have identified the body inside the plane wreckage found in the English Channel as that of Argentinian footballer Emiliano Sala.

But strong currents and winter weather forced them to call off the search before locating 59-year-old pilot David Ibbotson - the only other person on the Piper Malibu propeller aircraft.

The two Southampton fans are set to be banned from future home games.

"The club will be taking an extremely firm stance against anyone involved and intends to ban those supporters identified", the statement added.

On the page, the family of Mr Ibbotson, from Crowle, said: "As a family we are trying to come to terms with the tragedy and the loss of two incredible men".

Sala, 29, joined Cardiff City for a club record fee of 15 million Pounds from Nantes on January 18, 2019, but a private jet carrying him to Wales three days later got lost on radar.

In Cardiff, the club's manager Neil Warnock said Southampton and Cardiff City players would wear black armbands in their English Premier League match on Saturday and a minute's silence would be observed before kick-off.

"We wanted to do it for Emiliano and I'm really proud the lads have done him justice".

Earlier today, the club registered a 2-1 win as Kenneth Zohore scored a dramatic injury-time victor against Southampton.
