Why Chris Broussard Believes Celtics ‘Likely’ Will Land Anthony Davis

The Pelicans "intend to re-engage the NBA" about the league's stance that Anthony Davis must play if healthy, risking an injury that could devalue him on the trade market, The New York Times reported. The most notable Lakers' offer, which was leaked by a writer of the LA Times, had the Lakers sending young stars Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram, veterans Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley and two future first-round picks to New Orleans.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry says the club plans to have disaffected All-Star Anthony Davis in the starting lineup on Friday night in Indiana. The trade deadline is long gone, meaning he is a member of the Pelicans for the rest of the season. Those two teams have yet to make offers for Davis and likely don't have the assets to make a deal happen, league sources said.

Irving has been dealing with a strained right knee for about a week, and Davis left New Orleans' last game before the All-Star break with a bruised muscle in his left shoulder.

Essentially, Boston would either have had to give up Irving in the trade, or wait until the summer when he's a free agent, trade for Davis and then re-sign Irving. But if talks with the league take place, New Orleans has precedent from this season in their corner regarding being allowed to do what they want to in regard to Davis.

"Obviously, whatever team I get traded to, play for for a year or whatever, if I get traded, I'm not sure".

"That's the one team that I'd be scared of if I were the Lakers". The best chance Davis has to force his way to the Lakers is by creating a level of chaos and uncertainty in the marketplace about his privately stated wishes.

Davis, who is represented by the same agent as James, has requested a trade.

A team that has always been linked with Davis is the Boston Celtics, and they have the pieces to make a move in the summer.
