355,000 Apex Legends PC cheaters have been banned by Respawn

355,000 Apex Legends PC cheaters have been banned by Respawn

We will keep you updated on further details should they arise.

Respawn Entertainment have vowed to improve the cheat-busting tech in Apex Legends, though it seems to be doing pretty well already considering they say they've banned over 355,000 accounts since launch five weeks ago.

Twitter dataminers look to have unearthed a host of unreleased content now in development for Apex Legends: including new weapons like a flamethrower and remote turrets, as well as both hostile and friendly NPCs.

"W$3 e'll need to continue to adapt to and be very vigilant about fighting".

Games analyst Piers Harding-Rolls from IHS Markit told the BBC that cheating on the Windows PC version games is more common because it is easier to download a cheat application.

"Big publishers or developers like Respawn create teams of anti-cheating staff to target cheaters and also work with specialist companies to apply anti-cheating software which is integrated into their client software".

The developer also intends to scale up its anti-cheat team so it can dedicate more resources to the task, and reiterated its intention to add a report feature (to the PC version of the game) so that players can call out cheaters directly. "We are working on improvements to combat cheaters", Frechette wrote.

"We're keeping a lot of our strategy close to the chest so offenders don't have time to build workarounds before we implement changes", they said.

They're similarly secretive about what they plan to do about the jerks who gum up games by joining matches, spamming links and ads (often for cheats), then leave once the round actually starts. "Solutions won't happen right away but we're on it".

Additionally, Respawn said it's working on improving general stability and performance on PC, and to that end, it's releasing patch soon that will address some of the known crashes.

While Respawn is working on all these issues and more, one issue it isn't working on at the moment is a reconnect to match feature.

In Apex Legends, players play in three-player squads rather than as individuals.
