Apple Announces March 25 Event, 'It's Show Time'

Apple has announced a new event scheduled for March 25th.

Apple Inc on Monday invited media to a March 25 event at the Steve Jobs Theater on its campus in Cupertino, California, where it is expected to launch a television and video service.

The company has not given any details on the products that would be launched during the event.

The event later this month is part of Apple's broader push towards boosting the services part of its business to increase recurring revenue streams in the face of declining iPhone sales.

An invitation sent to journalists included a movie reel countdown video and the message "It's show time".

As for the Apple News subscription service, reports point to Apple charging customers $9.99/month for it and giving them access to content from major publications and magazines. With Netflix and Amazon Prime already having proven the value of streaming video subscriptions, the firm is poised to swoop in on yet another market. The company has partnered with several publications like The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, etc. The company also plans an update to Apple Pay in iOS 12.2, which will lay the groundwork to support a new partnership on a credit card with Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

The event is one that has been expected, but it's now all official.

We'll no doubt start to hear more as we get closer to the event, but we don't expect new hardware to be announced.

A previous report by Bloomberg also predicted an Apple AR headset to ship by 2020.
