Cuphead Nintendo Switch Port Arrives On April 18, 2019

Cuphead will be available for the Switch on April 18, and is now available for pre-purchase.

Cuphead has just been revealed for Switch during today's Nindies showcase and Major Nelson has announced that you will be able to unlock Xbox Live achievements as you play the game on Nintendo's hybrid console.

Update: The event is now over, and as expected, it brought word on a whole lot of Switch games.

Cuphead's co-creator Jared Moldenhauer jokingly ribbed Scott by letting the world know how badly he wants to see Cuphead and Mugman in Super Smash Bros. Right at the beginning of the show, Nintendo announced that Cuphead will be coming to the Switch.

Studio MDHR's incredibly hard Cuphead title is making its way to the Nintendo Switch.

In the end, it sounds like Cuphead on Switch will be a mostly by-the-books port. It's a pretty great co-op game too, and much easier with a friend playing with you. According to an Xbox Wire update, it'll be working with Cuphead developers StudioMDHR to bring the Live features to the game's Switch players, though it didn't specify exactly which features those were. The two were the first of the big three to incorporate cross-platform play, a long-requested but seemingly impossible feature that nearly seemed like a cruel, Mean Girls joke on Sony. "Fans will now have the opportunity to experience StudioMDHR's award-winning debut game on Nintendo Switch with Xbox Live!"

The official announcement of the Cuphead Switch release date comes on the heels of several rumors about potential collaborations between Nintendo and Microsoft. Preorders will be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop beginning today.
