Ipswich Mosque to say prayers for New Zealand terrorist attack victims

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern described the twin shooting - the worst in her country's history - as a terror attack.

A man in his late twenties has been charged with murder and is due to appear in court tomorrow.

Along with a horrific video that showed the shootings carried out live, Tarrant wrote a 74-page manifesto describing his evil intentions to avenge "thousands of deaths caused by foreign invaders".

MP for Huntingdon Jonathan Djanogly said; "Unspeakably sad and disturbing news emerging from the terrible attack on Muslim community in New Zealand".

He adds: "I am just a regular white man, from a regular family".

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also condemned the terrorist attack in New Zealand in the strongest terms.

The Bishop of Ripon, Dr Helen-Ann Hartley, who was formerly Bishop of Waikato in the Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Polynesia, said on Friday morning: "In some ways, there is a disbelief - there are no words, really".

Meanwhile, singer Boy George, 57, shared: "Sorry for the loss of life in New Zealand".

According to the 2013 census, there are about 46,000 Muslims living in New Zealand and about 8,000 Pakistanis, predominantly Muslims, call the country their home.

In the manifesto, Tarrant described himself as an "ordinary white man" who was from a "working class, low-income family". I had a regular childhood, without any great issues.

Video footage-not corroborated independently for authenticity-shows worshippers, possibly dead or wounded, laying huddled on the floor.

Another witness, Len Peneha, who lives next door to al Noor Mosque, said he saw a man dressed in all black run into the mosque, and then he heard shots and saw people fleeing the mosque.

Harun Khan, head of the Muslim Council of Britain said British Muslims preparing for Friday prayers "do so with the anxiety as to whether our mosques and communities are safe in the face of unabated Islamophobia and hostility against Muslims".

"Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with everyone affected by the horrendous terrorist attack against Muslim worshippers at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand today".

The 1 NEWS broadcaster reported, citing an Australian police source, that the shooter was Brenton Tarrant from the city of Grafton in Australia's eastern New South Wales state.

A Twitter account with the handle @brentontarrant posted on Wednesday images of a rifle and other military gear decorated with names and messages connected to white nationalism.

One of the alleged gunmen has Australian citizenship, the Prime Minister of Austrlia, Australia, Scott Morrison, has said. What looked like the same weapons appeared in the livestream of the mosque attack on Friday. "There were three in the hallway, at the door leading into the mosque, and people inside the mosque", he said.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth said she was "deeply saddened by the appalling events in Christchurch today". After parking, he took two guns and walked a short distance to the mosque where he opened fire.

The video shows the gunman then driving off at high speed and firing from his vehicle. "Two are still under investigation", Bush said at a briefing aired by the New Zealand Herald.

Mr Khan said the sickening attack carried out by at least one gunman "reaffirms what we have always maintained: that terrorism does not have a religion".
