"We have appealed to Election Commission to take serious note of it and take appropriate action", he added. The party said discussions are still underway and the party is likely to release its second list on Friday.

Mr Shinde will contest from Solapur (SC) Lok Sabha seat, from where he has been a lawmaker on several occasions, while Mr Jaisawal will enter the electoral battle from his home turf of Kanpur.

As per the deal, the SP will contest 37 Lok Sabha seats in UP and the BSP 38, leaving three for the Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal and two for Sonia Gandhi (Rae Bareli) and Rahul Gandhi (Amethi).

The seat sharing was hammered out at a meeting betweenCongress president Rahul Gandhi and JD (S) secretary generalDanish Ali at Kochi in Kerala this evening, party sources said.

Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asked Congress could still speak a different tone even in case of a cruel killer and global terrorist like Azhar.

The political parties have been campaigning in full swing since the Election Commission announced the dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections begin on April 11. However, elections for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, which was dissolved after the ruling coalition between the BJP and the PDP fell apart, will not be held along with the Lok Sabha polls.
