According to TMZ's initial reports, "family sources" reported that Jackson had attempted to slit her wrists in response to the fallout from the controversial documentary Leaving Neverland.

"Lies lies lies omg and more lies", the 20-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson wrote on Twitter.

Last week, Paris raised concerns by posting a video of herself smoking a bong just days after hitting out at the Leaving Neverland documentary. She also revealed she had been sexually assaulted by a stranger at the age of 14.

In the doco Leaving Neverland, the pair detailed the alleged sexual abuse they suffered at the hands of the pop superstar in the 1980s and 1990s. He then brainwashed them into secrecy, both men claim.

Jackson quickly slammed the TMZ report on Twitter, writing, "f- you you f-ing liars".

She initially appealed for calm, saying: "Y'all take my life more seriously than I do".

In a statement given to People, a representative for Paris Jackson confirmed that while she did indeed receive medical attention, it was for a matter completely unrelated to what was first reported.

Fans posted messages of support after photos emerged of her partying at Mardi Gras last week, with reports circulating that she had been on a "two-day bender" and gotten into a fight with her boyfriend.

While Leaving Neverland is certainly a compelling - and in some parts extremely hard - watch, there are some key aspects missing, including testimonials from Jackson's former staff members, other young boys Jackson was associated with, Jackson's own family, and the lengthy FBI investigation into the child molestation allegations.
