Mobile phone saves Australian man in bow and arrow attack

Mobile phone saves Australian man in bow and arrow attack

A man has been charged after he allegedly fired a bow and arrow at another man in Nimbin today.

"The resident held up his mobile phone to take a photograph of the armed man who then engaged the bow and was ready to fire", a police statement said.

The archer fired the arrow which pierced the resident's phone causing the phone to fly back into the resident's face. The reports further suggest that the arrow struck the iPhone, with the arrowhead partly passing through the device.

An Australian man was able to shield himself with his phone after he came under attack from a bow and arrow-wielding man, police said Wednesday.

While the arrow also hit the resident in the chin, it only left a small laceration which required no medical treatment.

Police said the incident began when the man drove to his home in Nimbin, in the northern part of the state of New South Wales.

He was charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and malicious damage.

The alleged attacker is now out on bail and is set to appear in court in April.
