Real Madrid agree €50m deal for first summer signing under Zidane

The 21-year-old Militão, who moved to Porto from Brazilian side Sao Paulo last summer, has been in top form since arriving European football and has emerged the best defender in Portuguese topflight for the fourth time in February.

Real Madrid have confirmed their first signing of Zinedine Zidane's second spell in charge of the club, as Eder Militao has agreed to join the club from FC Porto.

Madrid were believed to be in the driving seat for the 21-year-old, with a recent report claiming that the European champions have a "verbal agreement" with the Brazilian.

A statement released by Madrid on their official website read: "Eder Gabriel Militao is officially a new Real Madrid player, signing until 2025".

Zidane's return suggests that Madrid president Florentino Perez has given the Frenchman assurances that signings will be made this summer - assurances that he couldn't give back in May when Zidane stepped down from the job.

"Multi-purpose player, Militao plays central, although he has also occupied the right-back position".

"His speed, positioning and anticipation are his greatest assets, while he is also strong in the air".

Militao has scored three times in 34 appearances for Porto during the 2018-19 campaign.

Militao was signed by Porto from Sao Paulo in August 2018.
