Six Nations: England axe Cokanasiga for Scotland clash

Six Nations: England axe Cokanasiga for Scotland clash

England's superstar winger isn't even in the squad for the final Six Nations game at Twickenham after he tore it up against Italy and was named the official man-of-the-match.

Jack Nowell returns back to the right wing replacing Joe Cokanasiga with the latter dropped from the matchday 23 squad.

There was no reference to an injury for Cokanasiga but Jones will explain his decision in a news conference later on Thursday.

In total there are four changes in personnel to the XV that battered Italy 57-14 at Twickenham with Ben Moon restored at loosehead prop ahead of Ellis Genge and Mark Wilson displacing Brad Shields at blindside flanker.

Joe Cokanasiga is bound for the World Cup after Eddie Jones claimed the giant wing is capable of becoming a Test centurion despite his shock exclusion from England's clash with Scotland.

"He's a good young player and we're looking after him", Jones told a media conference. "It will be a fascinating finish to the Championship with three teams that can win it and we are playing against one of our most traditional foes in Scotland for the Calcutta Cup", said Jones. Scotland is a hard side, they are always at you, they play with a lot of enthusiasm and effort and have got a lot of attacking strings to their bow.

"We might have short memories sometimes, but sometimes you have longer memories", Jones recalled, without elaborating of what exactly annoyed him. "I think we are clearly getting really good clarity about the way we want to play and the way we can be the best in the world".

"I've had reasonable experience in doing this and sometimes you let them go, and sometimes you've got pull them back a bit".

"Wales are a very good team".

Jones has reverted to his first-choice midfield with Manu Tuilagi and Henry Slade paired in the centres outside Farrell, resulting in Ben Te'o's demotion to the bench as threequarter cover. "I am sure he will do the shirt great justice out there on Saturday", said Youngs.

George Ford rescued England with an 83rd-minute try to secure a 38-all draw with Scotland on Saturday after the Scots had come from 31-0 down to lead 38-31 in one of the most remarkable games in Six Nations history.

Jones said there was nothing planned in terms of watching the earlier game.
