'Stranger Things' season 3 trailer debuts new location and creature

Stranger Things has released the official series three trailer, revealing that it will be available to stream on 4 July.

Set to the Who's "Teenage Wasteland", the trailer follows Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will (Noah Schnapp) and Max (Sadie Sink) as they navigate their way through the summer of '85 in the mysterious Midwestern town.

The clip goes on to show the gang walking up a hill with a large silver antenna, while another scene shows Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers looking nervous in the waiting room of The Hawkins Post. After nearly a year and a half away from our screens, the Netflix drama will return for its third season on July 4, and today, the streaming giant dropped an official trailer for the highly-awaited installment.

It's been an bad long time since we last visited the charming little town of Hawkins, Indiana - too long, some might say.

Stranger Things series two ended with Eleven sealing up the gate between The Upside Down and the parallel human world. "I mean what did you think, we're just gonna sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives?" It looks as though Billy may have been affected by one of the Upside Down creatures, as he's seen standing in the shower and touching a webbed spot on his inner arm.

By the time Stranger Things 3 begins streaming, it will have been nearly two years since fans were last treated to new episodes of the hit sci-fi show, with the most recent run debuting in October 2017.

The series was created by The Duffer Brothers, who also serve as executive producers and directors along with Shawn Levy (who also directs), Dan Cohen and Iain Patterson.
