BTS breaks YouTube record for video with most views within 24 hours

Step aside, Pewdiepie and T-Series die-hard fans.

The world is finally standing up and taking note of BTS, and their new album Map of the Soul: Persona is likely to break records everywhere.

Global sensation BTS performed its new single Boy With Luv, and just 30 minutes after SNL posted the video of the performance, it had been viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube.

The feat was made even sweeter because BTS broke the record set by arch-rivals Blackpink whose Kill This Love video took 62 hours earlier this month. However, it has now been surpassed by the Bangtan boys with a massively huge margin.

Interestingly, the last few months have seen YouTube's 24-hour viewing record smashed more times than avocado in a trendy café, with Ariana Grande setting a record of 50.3 million views back in December, in turn dethroning BTS" "Idol' as the record-holder. The band released the official video for Boy With Luv on Friday, and it's already had more than 109 million views.

The K-pop boy band superstars showed American audiences just how powerful the ARMY - that's what their fanbase is called - really is.

BTS has performed the track without Halsey previously, on the Saturday (April 13) episode of Saturday Night Live.
