Crenshaw and Slauson Intersection to Be Named Nipsey Hussle Square

Crenshaw and Slauson Intersection to Be Named Nipsey Hussle Square

Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot multiple times outside his clothing store in South Los Angeles.

Nipsey Hussle's celebration of life will take place on April 11th, and will begin at 10:00 a.m; doors will open at 8:00 a.m.at the Staples Center arena in downtown Los Angeles. As a father, brother, and son, Nipsey was a rock helping to build an empire that will continue through generations.

The intersection, at Crenshaw Boulevard and West Slauson Avenue, is located mere metres from where Nipsey Hussle was gunned down on March 31st, and is set to be renamed as the "Ermias "Nipsey Hussle" Asghedom Square". Nipsey will always be remembered for delivering a pure, authentic Los Angeles sound, his numerous philanthropic efforts, his innovative, community-focused business mindset, and his humble heart. The venue later announced that no more tickets will be available. Drake also paid tribute on the first night of his London residency, urging Nipsey to "rest easy".

All told, the procession will cover just over 25 miles as it winds through South L.A. following Thursday's memorial service at Staples Center.

Eric Holder, 29, the man accused of killing Hussle, was arrested last week and charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a press release from the Los Angeles County's District Attorney's Office. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment last week.
