Kings sign general manager Vlade Divac to four-year contract extension

The Kings moved quickly overnight to reach a new agreement with general manager Vlade Divac, recommitting to a relationship that began when the worldwide basketball legend first donned the team's uniform more than 20 years ago.

Divac's extension keeps him through the 2022-23 season.

"After the All-Star break, I felt very confident we'd be in the race, and we were in the race", he added.

Sacramento finished the regular season ninth in the Western Conference, nine games back from the eighth-ranked Clippers.

Joerger just completed his third season as the Kings' head coach and oversaw a jump from 27 to 39 wins, but that total was not enough to snap the franchise's playoff drought, now up to 13 consecutive seasons.

The Sacramento Kings and Vlade Divac have agreed to a four-year contract extension. It's a decision Divac would regret. The former Lakers and Kings center has been in Sacramento's front office since 2015.

David Joerger will reportedly be fired after three seasons as Sacramento Kings head coach.

"Vlade has been vital to what we are building here", owner Vivek Ranadive said in a statement. During his time with the Kings, he coached the team to a record of 98-148 (.398). "Throughout his entire career, Vlade is someone who has always made those around him better, both on and off the court".
