SpaceX's Falcon Heavy 'Arabsat 6A' Launch Set For April 7, 2019

SpaceX's Falcon Heavy 'Arabsat 6A' Launch Set For April 7, 2019

After first supporter partition from the core, SpaceX will endeavor to arrive two Falcon Heavy booster rockets on land at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Landing Zones 1 and 2.

The launch of a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket carrying an Arabsat 6A communications satellite is scheduled to liftoff at 6:36 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from Space Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This can not be done with the Falcon Heavy because igniting all 27 engines at the same time would create extreme loads on the rocket and launch platform.

SpaceX announced via Twitter that the static fire test Friday was a success and the new target date to launch Heavy with commercial communications satellite Arabsat-6A aboard is Tuesday, April 9.

Fetching a price between $90 million and $150 million per launch, Falcon Heavy has already been certified by the U.S. Air Force to fly national security payloads.

The upcoming mission, dubbed Arabsat 6A, will launch a large communications satellite for Saudi Arabian corporation Arabsat. The rocket will carry the the Arabsat-6A communications satellite, which was built by Lockheed Martin, purchased by the Saudi Arabian government, and meant to provide Internet and mobile phone services for customers in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

A demonstration mission of the Falcon Heavy in February 2018 drew more than 114,000 spectators to the Space Coast, according to tourism officials, who added that interest in this mission could be even higher.

The launch will be the Falcon Heavy's first commercial mission, marking an important step forward for its potential use in the future.

The launch window was previously 6:36 to 8:35 p.m.

The rocket boasts three reusable cores, each containing nine Merlin engines for a whopping total of 27. That launch had the additional pizzazz of being the biggest rocket since the Saturn era ended in the 1970s. Along with the Falcon Heavy, the Falcon 9 also performs its own static fire.

It generated 7.6 million pounds of thrust at launch. Because the previous rockets were test-fired elsewhere, it is the first time Cape Canaveral holds a rocket launch as powerful as Falcon Heavy. A Falcon Heavy is basically three Falcon 9's strapped together.
