Australia’s Stoinis to miss Pakistan game, Mitchell Marsh flown in as cover

Australia are flying Mitchell Marsh to England as cover for Marcus Stoinis after his fellow all-rounder suffered a side strain that ruled him out of Wednesday's Cricket World Cup match against Pakistan in Taunton.

Cricket Australia were quick to fly Mitchell Marsh in to stay on standby in case Stoinis isn't declared fit for the rest of the tournament.

International Cricket Council regulations allow injured players to be replaced during the World Cup but they can not then rejoin their squad if they regain full fitness later on in the tournament.

"Marcus Stoinis has a bit of a side strain".

Stoinis failed with the bat against India, as he was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a duck. We don't know how many games he will miss, we should have a clearer picture later in the week.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh was set to travel to United Kingdom later this week anyway with the Australia A side for the 50-over matches against county opposition. He picked up two wickets but conceded 62 runs.

The World Cup 2019 Australia vs Pakistan match live streaming will be available live on Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports 1 in English Commentary and Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD in Hindi Commentary.

Before that, Pakistan had brought their campaign back on track with a surprise 14-run win against tournament favourites England, after a poor defeat at the hands of the West Indies. With three points in three games and having their Sri Lanka clash washed-out, Pakistan seems to not be in the mood for another wash-out.

All 10 teams play each other once in the round-robin group stage, with the top four qualifying for the semi-finals. A win against the Aussies will take Pakistan's total to five driving the team to number two position on the points table behind New Zealand.
