Five other people have been detained in connection with the shooting.

On Thursday, the prominent Dominican hip-hop artist Secreto, who was with Ortiz during the attack, said via Instagram that he ran because he thought the shooter was aiming for him.

Authorities also say Ferreira Cruz, 25, is wanted by New Jersey authorities for two armed robberies in 2017.

"Ortiz, affectionately known as Big Papi, was shot inside the Dial Lounge and Bar".

Charges were not filed in court today however, a spokesperson told Pozo that likely charges will include, accomplice to attempted murder and attempted murder.

Rolfi Ferreira Cruz, who was shouting to journalists in Spanish, said Ortiz's clothes confused him prior to pulling the trigger at the Santo Domingo nightclub.

Jose Eduardo Ciprian Lebron - Lebron has been jailed for two years on murder charges in an unrelated case. (Apparently the authorities have provided different spellings of the suspects' names.) It does not appear that the alleged shooter's lawyer has given a comment to the media. He said the alleged coordinator was also among those in custody.

Pennsylvania authorities released a mug shot of Rivas-Clase that strongly resembles the suspect in an image provided by Dominican authorities, who provided the same name but without the hyphen listed in USA court documents.

Luis Rivas-Clase, 31, is accused of shooting a victim in Reading in April of previous year, the Dispatch reports.

Authorities in the Dominican Republic say Rivas-Clase is still at large.

The person who ordered the hit is still under investigation, according to National Police.

Mirabal Acosta was arrested Tuesday in the town of Mao, in the northern Dominican Republic. At least one more person is being sought.
