Man found secretly living in attic above 14-year-old girl's bedroom

When she screamed at him to leave, the woman told police Casto ran to her 14-year-old daughter's bedroom, which was attached to the attic via a wardrobe door.

A Tennessee man was arrested this week, after it was discovered that he'd been secretly living in the attic of a family's home and sneaking into the bedroom of a 14-year-old girl at night while the rest of the family slept.

Police officers who were summoned to the scene reportedly had to remove Casto by force from the residence because he refused to go willingly.

Police were forced to physically remove Matthew Casto, 18, from the home in Mt Juliet in the U.S. state of Tennessee after he refused to leave, reports.

Castro was charged with aggravated criminal trespassing, News Channel 5 Nashville reported.

An investigation has revealed that Casto had been living in the attic space for "some time" and would come down only at night via the teenage girl's closet after she had locked her bedroom door.

Castro and the 14-year-old had previously tried to runway together, and he was warned to stay away from her, according to the arrest affidavit.

The teen's mother raised the alarm after she arrived home on June 2 to find a "creepy" man standing at the top of the staircase. Officers found him after an extensive search of the home, he was found hiding in the attic.

Police say they had to use an "electronic control device" to take Castro out of the home due to him allegedly resisting arrest.

He was released on bail and will appear in court.
