Radiohead release 18 hours of hacked music after $150000 ransom threat

Alternative rock band Radiohead released 18 tracks of OK Computer sessions after hackers stole several archived mini discs from Thom Yorke, the band's lead singer and main songwriter.

Greenwood's note confirms that the files were initially hacked from a minidisc archive belonging to Thom Yorke, and makes reference to a rumor that the hacker demanded a $150,000 ransom from the band to refrain from releasing the material.

Greenwood also tweeted links to Radiohead's page on music sharing site Bandcamp and to the website of climate campaign group Extinction Rebellion.

Greenwood said it was never intended for release and was "only tangentially interesting". And very, very long. "Rainy out, isn't it though?" If you want it, you can buy the whole lot here 18 minidisks for £18 the proceeds will go to Extinction Rebellion.

Radiohead's decision to support and call attention to Extinction Rebellion served as an opportunity for the climate campaign to share its work with the public as well as adding to its funds as it organizes direct actions in more than 50 countries around the world.

The Met spent £7million policing the demonstrations, which caused carnage on Oxford Street, Waterloo Bridge, Parliament Square, Canary Wharf tube station and outside the Bank of England.
