African Music Legend, DJ Arafat, Dies In a Bike Accident

The artist died as a result of serious injuries he sustained during the accident.

According to messages and pictures circulating on social media, he had been driving a motorbike and smashed into a vehicle. He was critically injured in the accident and later passed away after being transferred to an Abidjan hospital.

Yesterday, it was reported on a major news portal on the death of Ivorian musician DJ Arafat after crashed his motorbike with one presenter known as Denise Laffafiette's auto and died after a short while.

The Ivorian was the champion of the Coupe- Decale sound which was embraced by many artistes across the continent, including Kenyan gospel singer Daddy Owen. His real name is Ange Didier Huon and he was hugely followed in French-speaking western and central African countries, and he has 11 albums to his name.

DJ Arafat was known for his distinctive "coupé-decalé" dance music that put hip-hop vocals with short, catchy rhythms, garnering "Artist of the Year" for the genre in 2016 and 2017. He started as a DJ in Yopougon, one of Abidjan s night-life districts. "He will remain a force for Ivorian and African music".
