Amazon adds YouTube app and Alexa Announcements to all Fire TV devices

For those who don't know, Alexa Announcements has always been a staple on the Amazon Echo-branded smart speakers and allows users to send messages to other Alexa-powered devices.

It's easy. Simply say, "Alexa, speak slower" or "Alexa, speak faster".

You can now tell Alexa to slow down or speed things up when asking for information.

Amazon has confirmed the introduction of Alexa Announcements to its Fire TV streaming devices in the UK.

More news: Google will start surfacing individual podcast episodes in search results

The official YouTube app on Fire TV is better than ever with expanded Alexa voice controls that let you find, launch, and control content (pause, play, rewind, fast-forward) using your voice.

On any of your Alexa powered devices, like smart speakers or smartphones, you will now be able to adjust her speaking rate, whether you want her to go slower or faster, or go back to her original one. If you find yourself in a situation where you've made her begin speaking too fast or too slow, you can say "Alexa, speak at your default rate", to return everything to normal and start over on your quest to find the flawless speaking pace.

Meanwhile, adding that Amazon.com Inc. had been looking to potential measures to head off heeding concerns over its handling of Alexa recordings, "For Alexa, we already offer customers the ability to opt out of having their voice recordings used to help develop new Alexa features". But even if you don't have accessibility issues, there are times when you want to speed Alexa up since it might be faster to just look at your phone for answers.

Update: After publication, the feature started working on my Echo Spot, as you can see and hear in the video above. The company says the feature will be available starting today.
