U.S. News & World Report also ranked Mount Sinai as "High Performing" in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, abdominal aortic aneurysm fix, aortic valve surgery, colon cancer surgery, and lung cancer surgery.

This year, U.S. News' report included 12 data-driven specialty rankings across a number of specialities, including: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology and lung surgery; and urology.

U.S. News & World Report has been evaluating medical facilities for 30 years and is considered the "most widely-used hospital ranking survey", The News & Observer has reported.

Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest has been recognized as a "Best Hospital" for 2019-20 by U.S. News & World Report, according to a July 30 press release.

Eight departments within the Hospital were ranked among the top 20 nationally in their specialties, up from five a year ago. Two new measures also were added that are patient centered: patient outcome and patient experience.

U.S. News named UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside in Pittsburgh as the top hospital in the state.

In Minnesota, the next-best ranked hospital was Allina Health's Abbott Northwestern, followed by St. Cloud Hospital. The Hospital was ranked No. 14 nationally, up four spots from a year ago.

The No. 1 hospital in the 2019-20 U.S. News Best Hospitals for Cancer rankings is University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. In the latest report, 165 hospitals out of more than 4,500 were nationally ranked in one specialty, while 569 were ranked among the best regional hospitals in a state or metro area based on delivering common care.
