Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 replaces the rotating bezel with a digital one

The smartwatch comes in two different sizes - 44mm and 40mm in diameter, and two styles - lightweight aluminium with a casual Fluoroelastomer (FKN) Band, and premium solid stainless steel with a leather strap.

After a bunch of leaks, Samsung has today launched the Galaxy Watch Active 2 - the latest smartwatch offering from the South Korean giant comes with a bigger screen, a fresh look, and a lot more.

The Watch Active 2 has a touch sensitive strip around the edge of the display that acts to navigate the circular menus. While this sensor might not be medically cleared, it still delivers accurate information that is similar to the one provided by Apple's popular Watch Series 4.

Around the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S10 series, the Galaxy Watch Active was unveiled as well - targeted at those who love fitness. Active2 comes in a 40mm option and a 44mm option. The One UI was also upgraded to offer a more simpler user experience for navigation, as is the Galaxy Wearable app to colour-coordinate the watch face with the user's outfit. It starts at $279 for the 40mm version and $299 for the 44mm. Also, it is swim-proof product since it comes with 5ATM water resistance.

Under the hood, it rocks an Exynos 9110 processor assisted by 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It has various sensors including a heart-rate sensor, ECG sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and ambient light sensor. A win here would not only make Samsung more competitive, but it could also finally make it the Android-friendly smartwatch to beat.

Samsung's Galaxy Watch Active2, the company's most recent release in the wearable market, hits stores on September 27 at a starting price of $279 for the smaller model. The watch can also track your stress levels in real-time and perform sleep analysis algorithms.

The firm is yet to confirm a United Kingdom price or launch date, but in the U.S. it will start at $279.99 (£230.42), hitting shelves from September 27. It also offers support for Bluetooth 5.0, NFC for mobile payments and offline syncing of Spotify playlists.

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be up for pre-orders from September 6 and its shipments will begin from September 26. With pre-orders, users will get a portable wireless charger for the watch.
