Teenage Fortnite World Champ Bugha gets swatted during livestream

Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf, 16, was nearing the end of a match Sunday in Fortnite Arena Trios, when he suddenly abandoned his keyboard.

Fortnite World Cup champion Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf was "swatted" while livestreaming on Twitch on Saturday, reports ESPN.

"That's scary. What if I had just got popped?"

"Swatted" refers to the act of swatting which involved calling in a fake emergency to bring armed police to the home of an innocent "suspect". Giersdorf said on his livestream that the responding officers had "come in with guns" and wondered if it could have played out differently.

In the second clip, around ten minutes later, Giersdorf returns to the game and explains he's just been swatted. They literally pulled up. The caller said that he had killed his father and tied up his mother in the garage. "That's scary...the internet's [expletive] insane".

In March, a California man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for making bogus emergency calls to authorities across the USA, including one that led police to fatally shoot a Kansas man following a dispute between two online players over a $1.50 bet in the Call of Duty: WWII video game.

"I got swatted?" Bugha asked his father before leaving his gaming setup and going AFK, much to the dismay of his teammates.

Fortunately, one of the officers who arrived at Bugha's house lived in the area and recognized the video game prodigy, averting any potential disaster.

After Bizzle clutched up and won the game, he and Dubs were trying to figure out what happened to Bugha.

Swatting is a form of criminal harassment where someone makes a false report about a risky situation in the hopes of dispatching police or emergency services to another person's address.

After a row over Call of Duty in December 2017, Tyler Barriss told the police that he was holding his family hostage, and gave them an address in Kansas.
