Apple launches beta of web-based Apple Music streaming service

Apple chose to significantly expand Apple's own streaming service thanks to a new web interface that allows subscribers to stream music directly from their browser without having to install iTunes or a separate Apple Music application.

You can finally listen to Apple Music on the web, in any browser of your choice, instead of relying on the dedicated app.

Apple Music on the web opens the Apple Music service to just about any device with a web browser, such as Windows 10, ChromeOS, Linux, and other machines.

Apple Music for web will offer the Apple Music catalog and it will also sync libraries. You can even preview songs on the web app if you don't have an Apple Music subscription.

The Apple Music web interface is now in beta, but it seemed to work well when we tried it out.

Apple's new site launched today at beta.music.apple.com.

Since it's still in beta, you can expect bugs, but we can tell you right now that the service is still far more useful than accessing Music via the bloated iTunes app. Apple Music offers access to around 50 million songs, supports downloading for offline use, and presents content in streamable "radio" stations based on different music genres and activities. All major music streaming providers such as Spotify, Google Play Music and even Jio Saavan have Web interfaces for streaming music online.

Now Apple Music users are not only limited to the app to enjoy the music. Now, anyone can access their Apple Music account through any web browser. However, if you now rely on the syncing of your DJing app and iTunes, you'd be well advised not to upgrade your OS until a workable solution has been found.

While it's got nearly everything you need right now to listen to your music, Apple has told TechCrunch that it plans to "roll out more features over time as the service is further developed" and that it will be looking for feedback from customers to help it "streamline features and squash any bugs". Apple has confirmed that it will keep improving the web version with the time.
