First Alert Weather: Today is the peak of the 2019 Hurricane season

According to the National Center Hurricane (NHC), there is a system of disorganized showers and thunderstorms located near the north coast of Hispaniola.

It has a 30 percent chance of development over the next five days as it moves slowly westward toward the Caribbean. However, environmental conditions could become a little more conducive for development when the system moves into the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend.

Just west of the storm, the second disturbance lying in the mid-Atlantic has a 20 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression in the next two-to-five days.

Tropical Storm Gabrielle is located off the far north Atlantic, moving northeast at 25 miles per hour.

Currently, however, four tropical systems are being closely monitored including Tropical Storm Gabrielle in the North Atlantic.

The biggest tropical cyclone is Tropical Storm Gabrielle which is now in a post tropical cyclone state.

Hundreds of thousands of Canadians living on the Atlantic coast remain without power today following Hurricane Dorian, CBC News reports.

The Atlantic hurricane season began June 1 and ends November 30.

Regardless, experts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are forecasting a near-to-above average hurricane season still.

Wednesday a weak shortwave is forecast to swing over the region near the Louisiana-Texas line which could increase our rain chances up to about 30-40%, with the best chance for a passing shower or storm near Lake Charles.

The Bahamas, which got the full brunt of Dorian while it was a category 5 hurricane, is still reeling from the devastation left behind by Dorian.

Both North and SC received Hurricane Dorian as a Category 1 storm Friday morning, while Virginia was hit as well.
