Former Labour MPs tear into Jeremy Corbyn over antisemitism during debate

With a deepening crisis over Brexit in Britain, both Labour and Prime Minister Boris Johnson's governing Conservative Party are already drawing the battle lines for an early election, which many believe could be triggered later this year.

But on Tuesday, UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn told the TUC conference that it will promise a "credible Leave option" alongside a new European Union referendum if it wins a general election.

The divisions in Britain's opposition Labour Party over Brexit were also on display on Wednesday, when its deputy leader, Tom Watson, said he supported pressing for a second referendum before an early national election.

'If we did it we could win, whereas if we don't I concern we received't'.

The government will likely frame any election campaign as the people versus an intransigent parliament trying to overturn the Brexit referendum, says Catherine Barnard, professor of European Union Law at the University of Cambridge.

The Government, having lost the motion, prorogueed Parliament which means MPs will not sit in the House of Commons until 14 October. So today we are announcing that the next Labour government will bring about the biggest extension of rights for workers our country has ever seen.

Johnson, who was a figurehead for the Vote Leave campaign in the 2016 referendum when 52 percent of voters backed Brexit, has said he needs to suspend, or prorogue, parliament to kick off his Conservative agenda.

He warned that Johnson was pursuing a "Trump deal Brexit", and accused him of, "hijacking the referendum result to shift even more power and wealth to those at the top". "Just as we worked throughout the summer to pass a law preventing no deal, so we will work each and every day we are shut down to enforce that law. But if absolutely necessary we will come out with no deal", the prime minister told reporters.

One Corbyn loyalist in the shadow cabinet said, "Tom has been increasingly detached from mainstream Labour thinking". He rejects opposition complaints that he is denying parliament the right to debate Brexit. This speech does not reflect Labour policy in any way.

"Our priority is, first, to stop no deal, and then to trigger a general election", Corbyn is expected to say.

Answering his critics as he spoke, who insisted that he should no longer sit among other left-wingers because of his criticism of Jeremy Corbyn, Austin shot back: "I left the labour party to shine a spotlight on the disgrace it has become under his leadership, and because I regard myself as proper, decent traditional labour, not like the extremists who have taken over this party and are dragging it in the mud".

He also accused the PM of cosying up to President Donald Trump to get a "one-sided" trade deal with the United States which would damage employment rights, the NHS and UK industry.

"They want a second referendum".

He'll say that a lot has modified because the 2016 referendum and exclusively a Folks's Vote can ship any certainty about what the citizens now need.
