Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown Exchange Words Following Team USA Win Over Greece

Isaac Fotu nabbed a double-double for the Tall Blacks against Japan at the Fiba World Cup.

But now it's the familiar that is the concern. Team USA faced one desperate team in Greece today and overcame them. Two of his Milwaukee Bucks teammates are on the roster. "We can't just focus on him". "This is different from Team USA's past".

"To represent my country, it's an unbelievable feeling", Antetokounmpo said.

Greek players not named Giannis were 8-of-42 shooting through three (14-of-51, 27.5 percent for the game).

Team USA coach Gregg Popovich doesn't gloat.

What it produced was a strategy that hemmed in Antetokounmpo. The streak started after a 101-95 loss to Greece in 2006 - a defeat that forced the U.S.to change its program. Yet given the success he has had in this tournament with such lineups, one of the most important storylines of the rest of the World Cup will be how willing he is to rely on them. Greece will face a USA team that is coming off a 53-point romp against Japan to finish first-round play. That makes this game absolutely critical for Brazil. Had the Greeks lost, they would have been out of the World Cup and in a precarious position in trying to qualify for next summer's Olympics.

That was five points in the first 43 seconds for Antetokounmpo - but nothing came easy the rest of the way, as the US used no fewer than five different defenders on him at times. For more than half the game the United States of America went without a traditional center and it worked for them. But methodically he was taken out of the game and so was his team. He's been deeply studying Greece and deciphering what they might have saved for the Americans.

Antetokounmpo is the first reigning NBA MVP to play in the World Cup or the world championships.

"Listen, the situation with Giannis is a little bit complicated".

Barnes wasn't hurt, but Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart were among those that let the Antetokounmpo brothers know that they didn't appreciate the unsafe nature of the play.

"We showed a crowd every time he touched it", Smart said. It's not like the European teams with the FIBA regulation.

"Now it's time for him to increase the time [he plays] and everything in the game".

Antetokounmpo has averaged only 25 minutes per game in three games thus far. The Greeks have no chance or reaching the final eight after Saturday's games.

"The [no apology] escalated it", Celtic and Team USA member Marcus Smart said, via ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Kemba Walker (left) of the USA dribbles past Greece's Evangelos Mantzaris during their Basketball World Cup Group K second round game in Shenzhen on Saturday. "He's the ultimate professional and has the ability to impact us in a positive manner". "We'll be ready to go, we're not afraid of anybody".

All second-round teams play two games before the quarterfinal field is set.

The incident in question came following a hard foul on Harrison Barnes from Thanasis Antetokounmpo late in the game.

Except for his brother Thanasis, Antetokounmpo is the only National Basketball Association player on Greece's team.

"It's going to take a full-team effort on Giannis", Smart said.

"Looking forward to it", Brown said.
