Mac Miller's Alleged Drug Dealer Charged In Connection With Rapper's Death

Mac Miller's Alleged Drug Dealer Charged In Connection With Rapper's Death

Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick, died September 7 from an accidental overdose at his home in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Two days later, he was found unresponsive inside his home in the 11600 block of Valleycrest Drive and pronounced dead shortly before noon.

The L.A. County Coroner's Office later ruled Miller's death an accidental overdose as fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol were in the rapper's system at the time of his death.

A California man has been charged in connection with the death of hip-hop artist Mac Miller, who suffered a fatal drug overdose in his home almost a year ago, officials said.

According to federal prosecutors, Pettit agreed to supply Miller with 30-milligram oxycodone pills, as well as cocaine and Xanax.

According to a 42-page federal criminal complaint, obtained by The Associated Press, Cameron James Pettit, 28, allegedly supplied Miller with counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl.

Investigators served search warrants at multiple locations, and recovered a plastic bag containing pills. He also apparently told friends that it was best for him to avoid posting on social media after news of Miller's death broke.

The criminal complaint also detailed direct messages on Instagram between Pettit and others, in reaction to Miller's death.

The alleged drug dealer who supplied the deadly drugs that claimed the life of rapper Mac Miller has been arrested and charged.

Not only that, but the documents allegedly cite some of Pettit's DMs, many of which were sent following Mac Miller's death.

In another, responding to someone asking how he was doing, he allegedly said: "I am not great. Most likely I will die in jail", according to the affidavit. As of now, it's unclear if anyone else has been charged in connection to the case.

Pettit could face up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted on the drug-trafficking charge.
