Meghan Markle Wears Princess Diana’s Earrings at Launch of Her Capsule Collection

When she joined the royal family, Princess Diana was adamant about doing things her own way.

She said: "When the Duchess of Sussex approached me about being part of it when she became royal patron of Smart Works she obviously knew that what I do is very much about empowering women through their wardrobe and capsule collection is at the very heart of what I do, so it was a no brainer for me to say yes".

"Since transferring to the United Kingdom, it has been deeply essential to me to fulfill with communities and organisations on the bottom doing significant work and to attempt to do no matter I can to assist them amplify their impression", the Duchess captioned a submit in regards to the launch on her and Prince Harry's instagram. "It was just last September that we launched the "Together" cookbook with the women of the Hubb Kitchen in Grenfell". Today, a year later, I am excited to celebrate the launch of another initiative of women supporting women, and communities working together for the greater good.

The collection quickly won praise from fans of Meghan's style. She was greeted at the launch by Jo Bennett, head of buying women's wear & accessories at John Lewis & Partners, and Kate Stephens, CEO of Smart Works.

Instead, she entered John Lewis on Oxford Street in London via the back door, smart but low-key in a £120 pair of black pants and an £85 white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, to launch the Smart Set, a collection of interview-appropriate clothing for unemployed women looking to enter the workplace.

The new mum looked chic as she stepped out today, wearing pieces from the Smart Works collection. For every item sold online or in stores, one will be donated to Smart Works.

With Prince George, she took barely over two months off work - making her final public appearance on 15 June 2013 before Prince George's birth on 22 July, and returning for an engagement on 20 August. The London-based charity helps unemployed women get back on their feet and into the workforce through dressing and coaching services.

She told crowds that she was looking to "transform the idea of charity to community", and too help women be part of other women's "success stories". - The Duchess of Sussex Created in September 2013 with the goal to help unemployed women regain the confidence that may have been blurred during more hard times, Smart Works provides invaluable support in these women's return to employment and towards transforming their lives.
