More Black-and-White Weirdness Unfolds in New ‘The Lighthouse’ Trailer

It will open for audiences nationwide on October 18. Also, I don't know that I ever thought about the combination of Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson before, but now that I've seen teases of it, it's something that I simply must watch play out in full, as the interplay between the two of them looks brilliant!

Dafoe is scheduled to be at the closing night gala presentation of The Lighthouse, along with the flick's director/writer Robert Eggers. "What?" "WHAT?!?" That's essentially the exchange in the wild new trailer for "The Lighthouse", in which Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson get into an epic shouting match over, quite literally, nothing.

The latest Lighthouse trailer begins with Thomas (Pattinson) inquiring about the last man assigned to help Ephraim (Dafoe) take care of the lighthouse situated on a craggy rock somewhere eternally gloomy.

The film had its world premiere on May 19, 2019 in the Directors' Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received critical acclaim.

Rory O'Connor said in his review, "For all its finely considered dread, the reason Robert Eggers' ungulate-deifying debut The Witch made such a cultural mark had far more to do with its sense of mischief".

After films like Misdommar, it seems that there is some kind of resurgence with "experimental" horror movies, which looks to be the tone that The Lighthouse is going for.

The Lighthouse will be hitting U.S. cinemas on October 18.

The Lighthouse is described as a "hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s".
