Wendy's Plans to Launch Breakfast Nationwide, Trims 2019 View

The Dublin, Ohio-based chain, which has attempted breakfast in the past, announced September 9 it plans to expand morning meal offerings nationwide. According to WTOP-FM, cold brew coffee is added to the classic Frosty, and the drink comes in vanilla and chocolate flavors. Signature breakfast items include the Breakfast Baconator, Frosty-ccino, and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. The company said it's planning on hiring about 20,000 new USA employees.

Wendy's announced its 2020 plans for a national breakfast expansion.

"Launching breakfast in our United States restaurants nationwide provides incredible growth opportunities", Wendy's CEO Todd Penegor said in a statement. Its motto was "Only Wendy's has breakfast like we do".

In 1985, the fast-food company launched a much-heralded breakfast campaign in 3,000 plus stores.

The burger chain said Monday that it plans to bring breakfast items across its US restaurants in 2020.

Competition in the breakfast category has been heating up in the fast-food industry.

Wendy's estimates they'll spend roughly $20 million to roll out breakfast nationwide.

In the past, the chain has attempted several times to sell breakfast, dating back to the 1980s. In February, the company expanded with "Made to Crave" options.

McDonald's has long served many breakfast items in its stores nationwide.

The fast food chain delighted fans in August when it announced the return of its spicy chicken nuggets via Twitter. The company now expects adjusted earnings per share to decline 3.5 percent to 6.5 percent this year, after targeting an increase of about 3.5 percent to 7 percent as recently as last month. McDonald's has experimented with indulgent breakfast items like donut sticks.
